Jay is a seasoned southern California insurance agent with more than 15 years of experience.   Medicare, Health and Life insurance are his specialties and he works with the majority of the major insurance carriers.   He feels proud and privileged to have the opportunity to work with his daughter, Heather, and enjoys the father/daughter working relationship!

After living in Big Bear for 10 years with his dad, Jay learned how confusing Medicare could be for seniors. The last year in Big Bear his Dad’s heath declined and all he had was VA coverage.  They learned first hand, the hard way, what not to do. And after his dad passed away in December 2009, he decided to specialize and concentrate in the Medicare insurance field.

Jay’s #1 job now is helping seniors better understand their Medicare options, answering all their questions, and helping them to feel comfortable and to make an informed decision on the best plan that fits their needs and their budget.

Sarah Jane is a licensed insurance agent specializing in Medicare services in the San Diego area.

Sarah Jane became an agent because of her passion for helping others. For six years prior to obtaining her license, she was a lead preschool teacher at a private preschool in Santee, CA. She believes in exceptional service and strives for excellence when guiding others. Whether working with the over 65 community or the under 6 her patience shines through.

As an agent with Bridlewood, Sarah Jane can walk you through what Medicare is, the different parts of Medicare, and what your options are for supplemental insurance to take care of costs that Medicare doesn’t cover. By going through the items that are important to you – your doctors, specific health concerns, prescription medications, traveling to or living in different areas of the state or country, etc. – she can help educate you on all the various plans that are available so that you can confidently make the choice of the most appropriate plan to meet your needs.

Born and raised in Sacramento, CA, Sarah Jane received her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Robert Morris University. She also received her Paralegal certificate from Washington Learning Institute and her Early Childhood Education teaching credentials from UCLA.

Sarah Jane is a mother of 2, a teenage daughter and a pre-teen son. She has moved around the US from the West Coast to the East Coast and back, settling here in San Diego in 2015. Family time is very important to her and she loves exploring new places with her children. She is also an avid reader and can always be found reading at least one book if not many at a time.

Janet has her Associates of Science in Child Development.  She also holds her Health and Life licenses.  She began working in insurance in 2007, as an Employee Benefit Consultant.  Then several years later, started her own insurance agency, GWT Insurance Services.  She works closely with special needs trust attorneys and fiduciaries.   She decided to join Bridlewood Insurance, after working for another large agency that was out of state and provided little to no support to their agents. She started to look for a local agency and came across a flyer from Bridlewood.  She met with the President, Jeff Wetzel, and felt that he and his organization would be a good fit for her.  She says that the Bridlewood team has been very inspirational and her experience has been educational, and she is looking forward to growing her Medicare business with their help.  Medicare is very confusing to many seniors, and Janet enjoys helping them understand the in’s and out’s of the Medicare system.

Janet was born in Mesa, AZ , but lived in Prescott as a child.  Her dad moved their family to San Diego in 1975, as he continued to grow his insurance business.  Janet met and married her husband, Fred, in 1997.  They each had a son, so it was a ready-made family of 4.  Fred, a naval officer, was transferred to Alice Springs, Australia in 1998, where they had their first child together.  When they were transferred to Monterey, California, Fred obtained his Master’s degree at the Naval Post Graduate school, and they also had their second and last son.  They now have 4 sons and 2 grandsons . . . and NO girls!  Fred retired from the Navy in 2019 after serving 35 years, and Janet couldn’t be more proud.

“Glamping” is a big part of their family’s lives.  They have an RV and their second oldest son has a camper that they take to the desert.  They go to the dunes and ride dirt bikes and side-by-side cars.  They also love to go the river boating.  Although they are “empty nesters”, but all the boys live close by.

Bridlewood Insurance is a family business, both my Mom and Step Dad have worked for Bridlewood for many years! After being in Education for 12 years, I finally joined the family business and started my new career in September 2020.

I am born and raised in San Diego. I currently live in El Cajon, Ca and went to Valhalla High School and SDSU.

I have been Married to my beautiful wife Karlee for 9 years and we have been together for 17 years! We have a 7 year old son named Steven, yes Steven the third!

I’m a big sports guy! I actively play baseball on the weekends and help coach my son’s team. I enjoy playing basketball, golf, tennis and anything you want to play.

Fatemeh has lived in San Diego since 1986. She is married and speaks both English and Farsi. Fatemeh received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She has been in the insurance industry for 6 years.

Fatemeh’s goal is to offer solutions that meet her client’s needs today and for the life of their retirement. She believes in building a personal relationship with her clients, so she can better understand their retirement goals and help each client get there with confidence and peace of mind.

Derek has more than 17 years of experience as a licensed Insurance Agent, offering Life, Health, Medicare and P&C coverage.    He has worked as a Farmer’s Insurance agent, and has earned several of their top achievement awards, including Championship Agent and “Toppers Club” Agent.  He is also a Marine Corps veteran, serving 8 years in the Infantry.

Derek added Medicare to his lines of insurance when his mother, Jackie Anderson, introduced him to her Medicare Agent, Jeff Wetzel, who is President and CEO of Bridlewood Insurance.  She lives at Los Arcos assisted living in Poway, and Jeff had been their primary Medicare resource for years.  One day while visiting his mother, Derek saw the “famous” monthly newsletter that Jeff sends to all his clients, and realized that they had a shared passion of helping others.  He reached out to Jeff and got contracted with Bridlewood.  He loves seeing the smiles on his client’s faces when he has helped them choose the right  Medicare plan for their needs.  He is committed to doing the right thing for his clients . . . every time!  He believes protecting ones health with great insurance coverage, is the most important and rewarding part of his job.

Derek was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and joined the US Marine Corps when he was 22 years old.  He settled in San Diego after leaving the military. He met his wife while serving in Japan, and he and Yukiko have been married for almost 26 years.  They have 3 children – Annabelle (23), Tait (18) and Warren (17).  His best friend is his 7 year old maltipoo, Chiba.  Derek and Yukiko love to travel, and enjoy the outdoors.  He loves seeing and learning about new places, and enjoys trying different ethnic foods from around the world.  He also enjoys taking long walks with his wife and Chiba.

Penny joined Bridlewood Insurance in 2014. Penny became interested in insurance while assisting her husband in his work and being a caretaker for her mother-in-law. The benefit of her experience and continuing education is invaluable. Her goal with Medicare is to make it simple, clear and a painless experience with satisfying results. Her ability to listen to people carefully to better understand their preferences, their doctors & specialists, their prescription medications and their budget for health insurance is essential to quality customer service.

Penny Carlson is a native from California, born and raised in Orange County. She worked at Disneyland (Club 33), and was a controller in an architectural firm. Penny met her husband on a blind date 25 years ago, and they have two children. They share the love of cooking (and eating), gardening, and traveling. Penny also enjoys painting and knitting.

Kim Wetzel has worked in the financial services and insurance industries for over 20 years.  Her passion for working with seniors was the catalyst for her making a career change to Medicare Insurance.  Kim’s husband, Jeff Wetzel, started Bridlewood Insurance and she left the stock brokerage business to work with him.  They have built Bridlewood into the award-winning Medicare insurance agency that it is today.  As the business grew quickly, it became necessary for Jeff to hand off some of his responsibilities, and who better than Kim to take over servicing his 1,000+ clients, and keep adding to that number with her own book of business?

President & CEO  Mr. Wetzel is President and CEO of Bridlewood Insurance Services Inc.  Jeff’s dynamic work ethic and straight-forward approach, has made him one of the top leaders in this field, and has helped guide Bridlewood Insurance Services into one of the fastest growing Medicare agencies on the west coast and in multiple metropolitan areas across the country.

Following college at UNLV with a business major, Jeff and his wife Kim, moved to San Diego, and settled in Poway. Here, they raised four children over the past 30 years. Jeff and his family enjoy sporting events, boating and playing golf.

Madison became a licensed Medicare Insurance agent in the fall of 2011 to help her father, Jeff Wetzel, with the heavy load of the Annual Enrollment time. For eight years, Madison was a elementary substitute teacher in both San Marcos and Poway school districts. She believes in good service and public relations and strives for excellence whether it is working with the over 65 community or the under 11.
